his life is flashing before my eyes

We will be having an open house for Brennan on November 7th (and for a sweet couple who are leaving on their mission the same week). We wish you could all come and eat "Sunday Sundaes" with us. In the background we will be playing this slideshow (disclaimer -- it's LONG so I don't honestly expect anyone but me to watch the whole thing, but I couldn't resist posting it!):

seriously...what happened to the last 14 years? I am pretty sure he is still 5 and I am still 16! Haha.

Wow, that was awesome! I really loved the pictures of your three tiny little kids, much like where I am now. I also really liked the picture of Brennan shaving for the first time. Nice! I wish we could be there to send him off! We miss you guys!

Karen, that slideshow made me cry. Mostly for you--thinking of how you're feeling and knowing that this day isn't too far in the future for me. We want them to grow up and move on, but are we ever ready?

What a great childhood Brennan had! Seeing it happen in "flashes" as you say really puts life in perspective-- how quickly kids grow up! That'll be Anna in 17 years. I just hope my kids will turn out as well as yours are.

I guess it is because we don't live close by, but I did not remember your kids being so young when I joined the family. I guess that is what actually happens since the first time I met everyone was 12 years ago. Time has flown by and it makes me feel like I will be in your shoes much quicker than I want to be. I need to find a way to slow my kids down. Great slideshow!!

Awww! I loved that slideshow--I remember when Brennan was born and you brought him down to VA to visit your parents. I remember we made fun of him because he was kind of bald on top and had hair around the sides. Funny--my 3 girls looked that way, too. What a sweet, sweet slideshow. I guess these moments when they're little only do last just for a short time, and then it changes and they grow up, huh? You've made me appreciate what I have more, and hope that I can help my girls have as great a childhood as yours have. Congratulations. What an accomplishment. Brennan is a great young man.

What a fantastic slide show! Except that I'm crying now. Where does the time go???

Isn't it weird how you look at your little baby, and you can't think how they'll look when they grow up, but then when they get older and you look back at baby pictures of them, and you can totally recognize their distinctive features? It's just weird how Baby Brennan looks so much like Young Man Brennan, but you can't imagine that when they're little babies.

And, again, I had fun seeing so many of my kids' clothes in their first round on your kids! ...like the shirts that Evan is wearing now, Dallin was wearing 5 years ago.

You are such a great family, full of great people. I'm glad to know you. You have blessed so many lives.

Many thoughts crossed my mind as I was watching this slide show. Mostly though, I cannot believe what time does to a kid. Right? I mean I know that growing up and changing is an inevitable thing, but really, it all happens to quickly. I feel like one minute Brennan and Kristi were two little rambunctious kids. And now all of the sudden Brennan is mission age? Crazy!

What a great family you have.
